Project Summary
Central Engineering Services is supporting the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) in the Arkansas Valley Conduit project, which spans approximately 36 miles between Crowley and Bent Counties, Colorado. As part of this effort, Central is performing comprehensive Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services to identify and address potential utility conflicts along the proposed waterline alignment. The project involves collaboration with BOR, coordination of right-of-entry documentation, and completion of various SUE quality levels to ensure the safe and efficient installation of the waterline.
Scope of Work:
Central Engineering Services is conducting SUE services for the Arkansas Valley Conduit project, which involves identifying and addressing potential utility conflicts over a 36-mile alignment. The work began with detailed coordination with BOR to align project goals and ensure regulatory compliance. Right-of-entry documents were secured to facilitate field activities, enabling site access for investigations. Central supported BOR in the Section 106 compliance process, addressing cultural and historical considerations as needed. Public and private utility records were reviewed to map existing infrastructure, and site visits were conducted to validate these findings. SUE quality levels D through B were completed, laying the groundwork for quality-level A investigations, which will involve test hole excavations to expose and confirm potential utility conflicts along the proposed waterline alignment.
Features:
Conducted thorough reviews of public and private utility records to map existing infrastructure along the 36-mile alignment.
Performed site visits to validate utility locations and refine SUE quality levels D through B.
Facilitated coordination with property owners and agencies to secure access for fieldwork.
Supported BOR in meeting Section 106 compliance requirements to address cultural and historical considerations.
Developed plans for quality-level A investigations, including test hole excavation to expose and confirm potential utility conflicts.
Results:
Central Engineering Services has successfully completed SUE quality levels D through B, providing BOR with critical information to guide the Arkansas Valley Conduit project. By identifying and mapping subsurface utilities, the project team has mitigated potential utility conflicts and minimized the risk of delays during construction. Central's ongoing collaboration with BOR and proactive approach to compliance and coordination have set the stage for the upcoming quality-level A investigations, ensuring the project's continued success.
